History Course Descriptions

 

U.S. History 8: In this course students will learn about the history of the United States from the American Revolution through the Industrial Revolution.  The California State Standards for Social Science and the Common Core Standards for Literacy in the History/Social Sciences are used to determine the curriculum that will be taught this year.  Students will take notes during class discussions, team with other students in cooperative learning tasks, complete a variety of projects (at least one for each unit) and conduct independent research on questions raised from studying each unit.  Independent research conclusions may be presented to the class by individual students and/or in groups.

 

World History 7: In this course students will learn about medieval/early modern world history encompassing the years 450 AD through the 1600’s.  The California State Standards for Social Science and the Common Core Standards for Literacy in the History/Social Sciences, Science, and Technical Subjects will be used to determine the curriculum that will be taught this year.   Students will take notes during class discussions, team with other students in cooperative learning tasks, complete a variety of projects (at least one for each unit) and conduct independent research on questions raised from studying each unit.  Independent research conclusions will be presented to the class by individual students and/or in groups.
