Young Living (Home Economics): In the course of the quarter, students will learn about working collaboratively with others, being organized, and learning essential life skills. Students will apply the 4Cs (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity) in this course. Further, students will learn about nutrition- particularly MyPlate and activity, how to cook simple meals with a team, and survival sewing skills. Organization, written and oral communication skills, and team building will be emphasized.
Eighth grade home economics: In the course of the semester, students will participate in cooperative and individual activities where they can explore and apply critical thinking skills regarding essential life skills such as consumer education (budgeting and personal financial management), foods and nutrition, child care and sewing. The main focus of the class is the culinary arts. Students will work in cooperative teams to read and follow recipes accurately and prepare meals. In addition, students have the opportunity to grow their skills through our FHA-HERO chapter.
