Mike Pooley- Principal

Mr. Pooley began his teaching career at Savanna High School in 1999. Over the next 15 years, he taught Health Science, Math and Science. While he taught at Savanna he also held several other roles on campus: Athletic Trainer, Assistant Activities Director, Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach, Club Advisor, and Title I Coordinator. During his time as the Title I Coordinator he pursued his Administrative credential at Cal Poly Pomona. After 15 years at Savanna, he moved onto Brookhurst Junior High as an Assistant Principal. He was there in that role for 3 1/2 years. He then returned to Savanna as the principal in the winter of 2017.

Mr. Pooley earned his Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach and his Masters Degree from National University. 

Ryan Kile- Assistant Principal

Mr. Kile joined the Anaheim Union High School District in 2005, where he began his career as a math teacher at Anaheim High School.  Mr. Kile earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton.  He earned his Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Administrative credential from Concordia University Irvine.  He is a National Board Certified Teacher, and his passion for supporting students, staff, and the community has led him to take on many roles throughout his career.  He has collaborated with multiple district-wide teams, participated in grant projects with university partners, and provided support to new teachers as an AUHSD induction coach and mentor teacher for teacher candidates.  As Assistant Principal of Student Services, Equity and Inclusion, Mr. Kile is honored to serve the students, staff, and community at Savanna High School.

Erika Yi - Assistant Principal

Ms. Yi joined the AUHSD team the summer of 2021 where she continued to serve as a school counselor at Cypress High School. Prior to that, Ms. Yi served as a high school counselor in San Diego County. While serving as a school counselor in SD, Ms. Yi also coached girls JV golf for four years. Ms. Yi earned her undergraduate and Master's degree in school counseling at Cal State Long Beach and completed her administrative credential through the San Diego County Office of Education. Outside of work, she likes to play golf, exercise/hike, and spend time with her friends and family. 

Ms. Yi is very excited to meet and work with Savanna HS students and families this school year!

Israel Rubio, Assistant Principal

Mr. Rubio begins his fifth year as part of the Savanna Family. His first assignment was teaching middle school for two years in West Covina, while simultaneously completing his teaching credential at Cal Poly Pomona. Mr. Rubio then worked for seven more years at Rivera Middle School in the El Rancho Unified School District. During that time, he taught Ancient History and US History, worked as activities director, and helped develop summer academies for students interested in Science and Technology. He then joined the AUHSD as an assistant principal at Dale Junior High School, where he served in that role for six years. As Assistant Principal for Activities, Athletics, Facilities, and Safety at Savanna, he supports the various academic programs on campus and works to ensure a safe, equitable, and fun school culture is available to all students.
