What is an IB education?

The International Baccalaureate program offers a rigorous, comprehensive approach to learning in junior and senior year.  It is a holistic approach which not only addresses intellectual development but also social, emotional and physical well-being.  Its requirements foster the habits of mind necessary for students to be prepared to meet the demands of college and university work.  The IB curriculum emphasizes and promotes the following:

  • intellectual curiosity in a broad range of subject areas
  • critical analysis of content and cross-curricular connections to deepen learning
  • innovative problem-solving
  • academic research skills
  • engagement with and respect for diverse perspectives
  • active involvement as a citizen of the local community and the global world
  • an ability to manage time and balance the demands of academic and extracurricular pursuits
