Anaheim UHSD
Tobacco Use Prevention Education Program

The goal of the program is to make tobacco/vapes and nicotine products

less DESIRABLE, ACCEPTABLE, & ACCESSIBLE…

...using student ideas and initiatives!!!

The purpose of the TUPE program is to prevent and reduce youth/student tobacco/vape use and overall nicotine addiction by helping young people make healthy tobacco-related decisions through tobacco-specific, evidence-based educational instruction and activities that build knowledge, social skills and youth development assets. Using the most up-to-date research based curriculum along with the best prevention practices and resources that promote a vape-free life for students.

TUPE funding originates from tobacco tax revenue and provides prevention programs in grades six (6) through twelve (12). The Anaheim TUPE Consortium is a partnership of two (2) school districts; Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) and Anaheim Elementary School District (AESD). Collaboration between the CDE and community-based tobacco control programs such as the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP), and the California Office of the Attorney General, is an integral part of this process. As such, the schools, parents/guardians, and larger community should be involved in the collaborative efforts of the program so that students are aware of a cohesive effort and concern for their health, and consequently, their ability to succeed in school and live a healthy life that is tobacco/vape and nicotine free.

Program Components:

*Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention Curricula (6th-CATCH My Breath/8th-Project ALERT/9th-Stanford Tobacco Prevention Toolkit now called You and Me Together Vape-Free!)
